Sculpting Clay is an active item added in the initial release of Retribution.

Effects

• On use, grants Isaac a permanent copy of the closest passive item.
• After successfully copying an item, Sculpting Clay will turn into Used Sculpting Clay.
  • Used Sculpting Clay cannot be used, and will turn back into Sculpting Clay upon entering a new floor.

Notes

• Sculpting Clay can not be used if there is no valid items in the room to copy.
• Sculpting Clay can copy items for sale in Shops and Devil Deals, effectively allowing Isaac to take the item for free.

Interactions

• Judas + Birthright: After copying an item, the original item pedestal is replaced with a purchasable Devil Deal.
• Used Sculpting Clay + Modeling Clay: If Isaac attempts to use Used Sculpting Clay while Modeling Clay is held in their trinket slot, the trinket will be consumed, and Used Sculpting Clay will be transformed back into Sculpting Clay.

Trivia

• Sculpting Clay is based on the item "Modeling Clay" from The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls.
• Prior to a new version of Retribution being released for The Binding of Isaac: Repentance, Sculpting Clay was named Modeling Clay.
  • This name change was to prevent confusion with Repentance's own version of Modeling Clay.
