Axolotl is a passive item added in the initial release of Retribution.

Effects

• Spawns a familiar that follows Isaac around, and can shoot tears and block enemy projectiles. After blocking 3 projectiles, the familiar will stop following Isaac and lose the ability to fire tears as it dies, leaving behind a corpse on the ground that begins spawning File:Blue Fly.png Blue Flies.
  • The tears deal 3.5 damage and are fired at a rate of 1.88 times per second.
  • The Axolotl's corpse will spawn 3 Blue Flies right after dying, and will occasionally spawn additional Blue Flies while on the ground, until the room is cleared.
  • After dying, the Axolotl will come back to life upon entering a new room.

Interactions

• File:BFFS!.png BFFS!: Increases the damage of Axolotl's tears, as well as the rate at which their corpse produces Blue Flies.
