Black Box is an active item added in the initial release of Retribution.
Effects
- +4 luck while held.
- On use, reduces Isaac's luck by 0.5 permanently, and either spawns an item from the current room's item pool, a Black Heart, a card, or 3 File:Spider.png Spiders.
- The chance for Black Box to spawn a higher quality drop scales with Isaac's luck.
- When attempting to use the item while Isaac's luck is 0 or less, a buzzer will sound and the item will fail to activate, and no charge will be expended.

Interactions
Book of Virtues: Spawns a cube-shaped black wisp. This wisp has a base 20% chance, scaling with luck to reach 100% chance at 20 luck, to spawn a Black Heart when it dies. If this chance fails, it instead spawns a Spider.
