Bad Apple is a passive item added in the initial release of Retribution.

Effects

• +0.6 tears.
• 8% chance to fire a tear that converts all other tears in the room into bad apples which deal half damage.
  • This chance is not affected by Isaac's luck.

Interactions

• Bad Apple: Increases the chance to fire a Bad Apple tear.
• Apple!: Bad Apple tears are replaced with razors which deal 4x damage.
• Forbidden Fruit: Bad Apple tears are replaced with Good Apple tears which apply Forbidden Fruit's damage modifier a second time to the tears.
• Apple of Sodom: Bad Apple (and Good Apple) tears now spawn Blue Spiders in uncleared rooms.

Notes

• Bad Apple synergies that replace the Bad Apple tears are mutually exclusive and function on a priority system based on what is most beneficial to Isaac.
  • Apple! has a greater priority than Forbidden Fruit, which has a greater priority than default Bad Apple tears.
• Gaining the Apple! razor tear synergy prevents Apple of Sodom from spawning Blue Spiders from Bad Apple tears.

Trivia

• Bad Apple and its flavor text are a reference to the English-language idiom "One bad apple spoils the bunch".
