Mammon is a character added in The Mammon Update of Retribution.
Traits
Starting Items
- Mammon starts with 2 items:
Meat Grinder allows Mammon to spawn a
Swine Beggar at the cost of half a heart.
- An innate copy of
Spoils Pouch, which makes enemies occasionally drop temporary coins.
Curse of Swine
Mammon has the permanent effect known as the Curse of Swine, which has 2 distinct effects.
- Items found in the
Treasure Room are replaced with
Coin Stacks and 1-3
Circe Swine.
- Items found in the File:Devil Room.png Devil Room and File:Angel Room.png Angel Room are replaced with
Demonic Swine Beggar and
Angelic Swine Beggar respectively:
- Demonic Swine Beggars spawn devil deals at the cost of 50% of Mammon's coins. These deals still cost health.
- Angelic Swine Beggars spawn angel deals at the cost of 50% of Mammon's coins. These deals do not cost health.
Birthright
"Stonemason"
- Grants a marked stone block.
- Blowing up the stone block grants a permanent Lil Golem familiar that fights alongside you and collects Spoils Coins for you.
- Lil Golem can also block enemy projectiles, acting as a shield.

- Mammon is a Hebrew word that means "money" or "wealth".
- In the New Testament of the Bible, the word Mammon is thought to be used a representation of material wealth, or as the personification of material wealth and greed as an entity that promises fortune.
- In the Middle Ages, Mammon has sometimes been included as one of the seven princes of Hell.
- Mammon is a member of a fictional species called Mammonites.
- The name Mammonites is a parody of the term Mormonite.
- This species designation also includes the
Swine Beggar,
Demonic Swine Beggar and
Angelic Swine Beggar.
- Mammon's Birthright effect is a reference to the lore of the Fiend Folio MOD, where ancient Mammonites were responsible for creating the Golems.
- Fiend Folio's Sourpuss and Sweetpuss Subway NPCs, as well as the Spanky enemy, are all Mammonites.
- Mammon is gay.
